Crafted Echo

Games, tools, and other made things.

A one-person workshop. Most of what is here started as something I wanted at my own table — a game four people could play on one tablet, a tracker that stopped us shouting initiative across the room — and then kept going.

Games 6

Built for a table with people around it. The Android ones are pass-and-play on a single device: the tablet lies flat and the interface turns to face whoever is up, so nobody has to pass a screen the right way round.

  • Dice Table

    Godot 4.7 · Android + Windows

A hub for dice games rather than a single game. 10,000 is in and playable; Raccoon Raid and Dragon’s Hoard ride on a shared cup-draw engine underneath. Real physics throws, house rules you can save, and a per-player seat rotation so the scorecard always faces the right way.

  • Ludo Plus

    Godot 4.7 · Android · portrait

Ludo, with the fiddly parts settled by the app instead of by argument. The rule engine is pure logic with no rendering attached, which is what lets a thousand complete games be played through in a test run — so the legal moves on screen can never disagree with the rules.

  • Mini Golf

    Godot 4.7 · Android + Windows

Three-dimensional mini golf for one to eight players taking turns on one tablet. The camera looks almost straight down and the course never rotates — only the heads-up display turns to the player putting. Ships with the hole editor the courses were built in.

  • Alphabyte

React + TypeScript · offline PWA

A daily word game that grades you against par — what a solver could wring out of the same board — rather than against a fixed score. Works with no connection at all once loaded, and tells you where you landed in encouraging words instead of a letter grade.

  • Roll With It

Party game · paper and browser

Everyone drafts two adventurers and sends them into round-robin duels. A d4 forces a trait on you mid-fight, each duelist writes one answer, and the rest of the table votes with green and red tokens while the authors stay hidden. The online build turns phones into controllers with the host screen on a TV.

  • The Circuit

    HTML5 Canvas · Android

A finished game with 28 levels, written directly against a canvas with no engine in the way, and wrapped for Android. A rebuild in Godot was started and then parked — the original is the one that works, so it stayed the one that shipped.

Tools 3

Things built to solve one specific annoyance, kept because they kept being useful.

  • Ironroll

    Node + WebSocket · self-hosted

A D&D initiative tracker where the players get their own view. The dungeon master keeps using the same single-file app; a small server broadcasts a filtered copy to everyone’s browser, so players see the turn order and their own character’s hit points — and nothing about the monsters.

  • D&D Scribe

    Python · faster-whisper + Claude

Transcribes a tabletop session as it happens, in one-minute chunks held in memory — no audio is ever written to disk. A rolling summary updates every ten minutes and a structured write-up of the session lands when you stop recording, so nobody has to volunteer to take notes instead of playing.

  • E-paper clock

    ESP32-S3 · ESPHome · e-paper

A wall clock on an electronic paper panel: no backlight, readable in daylight, and it draws almost nothing between refreshes. Pulls the day’s forecast — condition, high and low — from Home Assistant and puts it under the time.

  • Single Point of Failure

    Novel · 21 chapters

A technical thriller told by a network engineer who was given three weeks of tedious work and found trouble instead. It opens on a claim he knows nobody believes: none of this would have happened if the work had been interesting. Revised draft, out with beta readers.
